Tillie was the first Grover born in Clay County. She arrived on October 18, 1875.

Andrew Sandwick was born in Telemark in 1870 and immigrated through Duluth at the age of 17.  He quickly established  himself as a member of the Moland community.  The match had the complete approval of Tilde's brothers and the community as a whole.  The marriage on February 9, 1900 was a community event.

Tillie and Andrew first settled in Otter Tail County MN, returning to Moland to take over the acreage Tilde inherited from her brother Ed's estate. In 1909, Tillie and Andrew moved to the Mountain View area near Corvallis Oregon.  The family built a chicken coop and used it as their home while the house and barn were built.

In 1920 Andrew and Tillie moved to Whiteson, Oregon and then to Corvallis.  In 1935 or 1936 they moved from Corvallis to a farm located near Gresham, Oregon.

After Andrew's death, Tilde sold the farm and lived with her daughter, Ethel, in Portland until the late 1950's.  She then moved in with her daughter Galena in Milton-Freewater, Oregon.

Tillie was able to see her family grow to include numerous great-grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the largest  "clan" of  Tarje's descendants. She died in Oregon on March 29, 1971.  Tilde was 95 years old.

Tilde and Andrew's Wedding
reprinted in the Hawley (MN) Herald in 1982

"The home of E. A. Grover in the Town of Moland was the scene of a pleasant event Tuesday afternoon and evening, it being the marriage of his sister, Thilde (sic), to Mr. Andrew Sandwick of Moland. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Kilde at two o-clock in the afternoon and was witnessed by a large gathering of relatives and friends.  After supper, dancing was indulged in by the young people, music being furnished for the occasion from Moorhead.  A midnight supper was provided and everybody enjoyed themselves until daylight Wednesday morning."
