Hans lived with his cousin John and his family when he first arrived in Chippewa County. He saved his money and was eventually able to secure his own lodgings. In 1888 Ole, his wife Johanna and daughters Johanna, Oline and Martha came to America. We understand that Hans paid passage for his parents and sister Johanna.
All of Hans' siblings eventually came to Southern Minnesota. Some were married with children of their own when they made the journey.
