Henry J. Paulsrud by Pearl Otterson
Henry Paulsrud was born in Wisconsin in 1880 and came to North Dakota in 1905. He married Hannah Olson (born in Hadeland, Norway in 1870) in 1906.Five children were born to them: Pearl, Gladys, Helen, Clarence and Ralph. Helen died as an infant.
The family lived on their farm until November, 1919, when they moved to New England. Henry went to work at the light plant located north of town. Fred Slight was superintendent. For a time Henry worked at various jobs until he received his appointment as a rural mail carrier on Route 3, a position he held until his death in 1939*. Hannah Paulsrud died in 1939.
All of the Paulsrud children attended New England public school, with Pearl graduating in 1926, Gladys in 1937, Clarence in 1930 and Ralph in 1934.
Pearl married Henry Otterson of New England; they had no children. Gladys married Cyril Greer in 1929 and had a daughter and son, Helen Jameson and Donald Greer. Clarence married Vera Diers in 1936 and had four children: David, Dorothy Coates, Bonnie Anderson, and Arne Paulsrud. Ralph married Margaret Zahn Olson and they had no children.
Ralph lived in New England, a World War II veteran and rural mail carrier, active in the American Legion. He died in 1969. Pearl, Gladys, and Clarence moved west. Pearl lives in Bremerton, Washington. *ND Public Death Index Search indicates that Henry died on February 28, 1938:
