The Barskor Farm
Amund Thorson and Anne N. Tveiten were tenant farmers (husmann med jord) when Sissel was born. The Barskor farm is very remote; it sits high in a mountain meadow. At that time, traveling to church required a journey over mountains. Today the farm has been abandoned, but the buildings are still there. It is accessible via a long drive up the mountain on a narrow timber road. There are apple trees and wild flowers growing on the farm site. Although remote, the land was rich and, at the time, along with good grazing for their livestock, wild life was likely plentiful. They were probably able to sustain themselves quite easily. | |
