Pearl worked on the farm from the time she was a small girl. In the 1960s it was unusual for a farmwife to help in the field, but Pearl worked hard alongside Ray and seemed to enjoy it. She was one of the women featured in an article entitled Harvest Time on "Family Farms" Finds Women, Children in the Fields."
