Wallace Harold Alm was born on New Year's Day of 1917 in
Dazey, North Dakota. He served in the U. S. Army in Europe during World
War II. When he returned, he worked for General Motors in Fargo.
He married Harriet Elizabeth (Betty) Sprout on the 4th of July, 1946.
Shortly thereafter, he transferred to Seattle. Wally and Betty's
three sons were born in Seattle, where he eventually studied carpentry.
After working as a carpenter for a few years, he took a job teaching at
the same institution where he had studied. He found his calling
and spent the rest of his career there. After his retirement, Betty
and Wally spent their winters in Arizona. For the last 6 years of his
life, Wally lived with his son and daughter-in-law. He passed away
on what would have been his 67th wedding anniversary at the age of 96.
