The Kantens spent their first winter in Tunsberg
Township in a dug-out. In the summer of 1870, Iver and his sons
constructed a log cabin. It is believed that Anne Kanten Alm was born in
this cabin in 1872. The cabin is now displayed at the
Yellow Medicine Historical Society's outdoor museum. |
The Kanten cabin was used as a church and as a school after the family built a larger home. Furnishings and artifacts displayed in the cabin have been donated to the museum from many sources. |
